Before I tell you all about my life at L'Oréal, I will let you in on some information about the company itself. This way you gain a bit of knowledge and feel more involved.
Of course I am not able to share all information or visuals with you (toppie secret stuff), but I'm sure I can give a pretty clear overall view.

--> The cosmetics company L'Oréal was founded in 1909 by Eugène Schueller. This young French chemist developed an innovative hair dye, called Auréole. He formulated and manufactured his own products and sold them to Parisian hairdressers.

--> L’Oréal purchased Synthélabo in 1973 to pursue its ambitions in the pharmaceutical field. Synthélabo merged with Sanofi in 1999 to become Sanofi-Synthélabo. They merged with Aventis in 2004 to become Sanofi-Aventis.

--> On 17 March 2006 L'Oréal took over the Body Shop

At the moment L'Oréal can be defined into the following categories:
- Consumer (L'Oréal Paris, Garnier, Maybelline and SoftSheen-Carson)
- Professional (L'Oréal Professional, Kérastase, Matrix, Redken and Mizani)
- Active (Shu Uemera, Kiehls since 1851, Vichy, La Roche-Posay, Skinceuticals, Innéov,
Sanoflore, The Body Shop)
- Luxury (Biotherm, Cacharel, Ralph Lauren Fragrances, Guy Laroche, Helena
Rubinstein, Lancôme, Giorgio Armani Perfumes & Cosmetics,
Diesel Parfums, Viktor&Rolf, Paloma Picasso and YSL Beauté)


L’Oréal has five worldwide research and development centers: two in France: Aulnay and Chevilly; one in the U.S.: Clark, New Jersey; one in Japan: Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture; and in 2005, one was established in China, Shanghai. A future facility in the US will be in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey.

The head office is in Clichy, France. The big boss (CEO) at the moment is Jean-Paul Agon. There are currently 67.660 people working for the firm all over the world.

L'Oréal's stockholders are 30.8% Bettencourt Family, 29.6 % Jean-Paul Agon and 36.4 % publicly traded.

In 2008 L'Oréal makes € 2.064 billion profit.
L'Oréal is nr.1 marketleader worldwide.

The L'Oréal-Unesco Awards for Women in Science was established to improve the position of women in science by recognizing outstanding women researchers who have contributed to scientific progress.
